Nick King gets MVP of the Week award for Taiwanese T1 League (by Hoops Agents)- April 6, 2023
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 42 points and ten rebounds, while his team crushed Taoyuan L. (#6, 6-20) with 16-point margin 108-92. It allowed N.Taipei CTBC to consolidate first place in the Taiwanese T1 League. N.Taipei CTBC have a solid 22-4 record. In the team's last game King had a remarkable 60.9% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at N.Taipei CTBC, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Middle Tennessee State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. King is in league's top in points (2nd best: 27.2ppg), assists (9th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 54.7% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American center Dwight Howard (211-C-1985) of Taoyuan L.. Howard impressed basketball fans with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Taoyuan L. lost that game 92-108 to the higher-ranked N.Taipei CTBC (#1, 22-4). Taoyuan L. are still at the very bottom. 20 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Taoyuan L. managed to get this year. Howard is a newcomer at Taoyuan L. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.2ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 16.3rpg and 4.8apg. The third best performed player last round was Tanzanian Hasheem Thabeet (218-C-1987) of TB Herobears (#4). Thabeet scored 14 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Thabeet's great performance TB Herobears lost 88-103 to #1 ranked N.Taipei CTBC. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of TB Herobears ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 14 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Thabeet could help TB Herobears to bring them higher in the standings. Thabeet has a very solid season. In 4 games in Taiwan he scored 8.0ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Michael Efevberha (195-G-1984) of Taoyuan L. - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Po-Hsun Chou (197-PF-1991) of TB Herobears - 16 points and 11 rebounds 6. Kristijan Krajina (208-C-1990) of N.Taipei CTBC - 13 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Mohammad Al Bachir (188-F-1998) of N.Taipei CTBC - 22 points and 5 rebounds 8. Ya-Hsuan Hsieh (187-G-1998) of N.Taipei CTBC - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Wei-Han Lin (178-PG-1990) of N.Taipei CTBC - 11 points, 2 rebounds and 12 assists 10. Bing-Sheng Lin (186-G-1996) of N.Taipei CTBC - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
