T1 League Round 34: GhostHawks lose to Leopards

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round was the one between second ranked GhostHawks (15-9) and sixth ranked Leopards (6-17) on Saturday night. GhostHawks were defeated by Leopards 97-107. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of GhostHawks. Leopards forced 30 GhostHawks turnovers. Strangely GhostHawks outrebounded Leopards 69-39 including a 46-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (195-1984, college: CSUN) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. American center Dwight Howard (211-1985) contributed with 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (230-1991) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 21 rebounds for GhostHawks. GhostHawks' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Leopards moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Taichung Suns. GhostHawks at the other side keep the second position with nine games lost. Leopards is looking forward to face higher ranked Aquas (#3) in Kaohsiung in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. GhostHawks will have a break next round.
An interesting game for N.Taipei CTBC (20-4) which played against 4th ranked TB Herobears (11-13). First ranked N.Taipei CTBC had an easy win 101-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TB Herobears. American forward Nick King (201-1995, college: MTSU) had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kristijan Krajina chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Branden Dawson (200-1993, college: Michigan St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. N.Taipei CTBC have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-4 record. TB Herobears at the other side keep the fourth place with 13 games lost. N.Taipei CTBC will play against Suns (#5) in Taichung in the next round. TB Herobears will have a break next round.



Taoyuan L. - Tainan GH 107-97

An interesting game for N.Taipei CTBC (20-4) which played against 4th ranked TB Herobears (11-13). First ranked N.Taipei CTBC had an easy win 101-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TB Herobears. N.Taipei CTBC dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to TB Herobears' 28. N.Taipei CTBC forced 19 TB Herobears turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. N.Taipei CTBC brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American forward Nick King (201-1995, college: MTSU) had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Croatian center Kristijan Krajina (208-1990, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Branden Dawson (200-1993, college: Michigan St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds.
