T1 League Round 24: Aquas lose to Leopards- February 13, 2023

Kaohsiung A. - Taoyuan L. 116-137 The most important game in the last round was the one between second ranked Aquas (11-7) and sixth ranked Leopards (3-11) on Sunday night. Aquas were crushed by Leopards 116-137. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Aquas' 56 and made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aquas 51-31 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. It was a good game for American center Dwight Howard (211-1985) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 22 rebounds and 14 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (195-1984, college: CSUN) contributed with 25 points and 6 assists for the winners. Jordanian-American center John Bohannon (211-1991, college: UTEP) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American-Filipino guard Jason Brickman (183-1991, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Aquas. Five Leopards and four Aquas players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leopards maintains sixth position with 3-11 record. Defending champion Aquas keep the second place with seven games lost. Leopards are looking forward to face higher ranked TB Herobears (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aquas will play against TB Herobears and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Third ranked GhostHawks managed to get a 10-point victory 120-110. GhostHawks made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. GhostHawks outrebounded TB Herobears 46-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by TB Herobears' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-1992, college: NM State) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and American center Robert Upshaw (213-1994, college: Washington) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Yu-An Chiang (174-1991) with 42 points (!!!) and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and Serbian center Milenko Veljkovic (218-1995) scored 24 points and 5 assists. Five GhostHawks and four TB Herobears players scored in double figures. GhostHawks maintains third position with 9-8 record having just two points less than leader N.Taipei CTBC. TB Herobears lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. GhostHawks will play against Suns (#5) in Taichung in the next round. TB Herobears will play at home against Leopards and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
