SBL Round 10: Bank of Taiwan lose to Yulon Luxgen

Top ranked Bank of Taiwan (18-6) recorded its sixth loss against third ranked Yulon Luxgen on Sunday night. Yulon Luxgen were defeated by third ranked Yulon Luxgen (12-11) 90-86. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Bank of Taiwan. Yulon Luxgen shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) fired a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winners. point guard Guan-Xuan Lu (182-1995) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Zak Irvin (198-1994, college: Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Yulon Luxgen have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-11 record having seven points less than leader Bank of Taiwan. Bank of Taiwan at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost. They share the position with Taiwan Beer. Yulon Luxgen are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Pauian (#5) in the next round. Bank of Taiwan will play against Jeoutai (#4) and is hoping to win this game.

Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. Zak Irvin contributed with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Bank of Taiwan's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Bo-Hao Lin (192-1997) replied with 24 points and 6 rebounds for Jeoutai. Bank of Taiwan have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-6 record, which they share with Taiwan Beer. Jeoutai lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 14 games lost. Bank of Taiwan will play against league's second-placed Taiwan Beer in Taipei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jeoutai will play again against the league's leader Bank of Taiwan and hopes to get back on the winning track.

An exciting game was when First ranked Bank of Taiwan faced 4th ranked Jeoutai. Bank of Taiwan (18-6) defeated Jeoutai (9-14) 99-86. Bank of Taiwan dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Jeoutai's 38. Bank of Taiwan forced 19 Jeoutai turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import swingman Zak Irvin (198-1994, college: Michigan) contributed with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Jiahe Zhang (188-1996) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-1991, college: Portland St.) responded with 21 points and 7 assists and his fellow American import power forward CJ Aiken (206-1990, college: St.Joseph's) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Bank of Taiwan and four Pauian players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taiwan Beer dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Pauian's 30. They outrebounded Pauian 39-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Taiwan Beer looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Zhao-Hao Chen (200-1992) chipped in 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest.
