Taichung Suns ink Julian Wright- January 1, 2022
In 2007 he was drafted by New Orleans Hornets (NBA) in first round (13th overall). He attended University of Kansas and it is his 15th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Wright is quite experienced player. He has played in eight different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Wright has played previously professionally in France (Metropolitans), Greece (Panathinaikos), Israel (Maccabi Rishon), Italy (Reggio Emilia and Trento), Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros), Russia (Krasnie Krilya), Turkey (Trabzonspor) and NBA (Toronto Raptors). The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team made it to the Eurocup Semifinals in 2016 and 2018. He was voted to French ProA All-Star Game back in 2019. Wright could be described: A high flyer who causes matchup problems because of his versatility (by James Burbridg for NBADraft.net in 2007) Can take bigger guys off the dribble and post up smaller players. Able to play the finesse game as well as be a bull in the post. Very tough minded, which is a misconception based upon his slight frame. A very hard worker, evidenced by his statistical climb from freshman to sophomore year and the noticeable improvement on his jumpshot. Capable of making eye popping plays either as a distributor, a finisher and also on the defensive end of the floor. First and foremost, his jumpshot. While it is undoubtedly improved, there is still much work to be done. With a reliable jumpshot that defenders would have to respect, the damage Julian could do to opposing defenses would jump tenfold.
