The Regular Season in SBL just ended. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 18 in the SBL ended with only one-point defeat of 5th ranked KKL (18-18) to sixth ranked Dacin Tigers (17-19) 84-83 on Thursday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dacin Tigers made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) who scored 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. The former international forward Yi-Hui Lin (193-86) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 22 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dacin Tigers maintains sixth position with 17-19 record. KKL lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Yulon Luxgen.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Taiwan Beer (21-15) against fifth ranked KKL (18-18) on Saturday night. Taiwan Beer was crushed by KKL 90-69. It was a good game for American center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Zoran Vrkic contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Center Chen-Zhao Hao (200-92) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Taiwan Beer. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KKL moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Yulon Luxgen. Taiwan Beer lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with 15 games lost.
An exciting game was when Third ranked Pauian faced second-best Taiwan Beer. Pauian (20-16) defeated Taiwan Beer (21-15) 91-87. Kyle Meyer had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Igor Zaytsev with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pauian have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 20-16 record having four points less than leader Fubon Braves. Taiwan Beer lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with 15 games lost.
Leader Fubon Braves delivered the twenty fourth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Bank of Taiwan (8-28) 88-80. Wei-Che Lin notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fubon Braves (24-12) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Bank of Taiwan lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 28 lost games.

In the last two games of round 18 Yulon Luxgen defeated KKL 84-78. Yulon Luxgen beat Dacin Tigers 94-87.
The best stats of 18th round was 31 points and 18 rebounds by Walter Sharpe of Yulon Luxgen.



KKL - Yulon Luxgen 78-84

There was a minor upset when their close opponent KKL (18-18) was defeated by fifth ranked Yulon Luxgen (18-18) 84-78. They made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Yulon Luxgen players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the former international point guard Wei-Han Lin (178-90) supported him with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Four Yulon Luxgen players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists by international guard Huan-Ya Yu (183-93) did not help to save the game for KKL. American center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta) added 9 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yulon Luxgen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated KKL. KKL lost fifth consecutive game.

An exciting game was when Third ranked Pauian faced second-best Taiwan Beer. Pauian (20-16) defeated Taiwan Beer (21-15) 91-87. Pauian dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Taiwan Beer's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Kyle Meyer (208-93, college: Houston) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Orlando Johnson (196-89, college: UCSB) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Four Pauian players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international forward Tsung-Han Huang (193-94) scored 26 points. Leader Fubon Braves delivered the twenty fourth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Bank of Taiwan (8-28) 88-80. Fubon Braves forced 22 Bank of Taiwan turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guard Wei-Che Lin (182-92) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Hung-Hsing Wu (202-89) supported him with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds by international center Tsung-Jung Hsieh (200-95) did not help to save the game for Bank of Taiwan. International guard Bo-Sheng Zhang (185-87) added 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fubon Braves (24-12) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Bank of Taiwan lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 28 lost games.

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Yulon Luxgen and 6th ranked Dacin Tigers had identical 17-18 record. This time Yulon Luxgen defeated the opponent Taipei 94-87. Yulon Luxgen players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Wei-Han Lin (178-90) supported him with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists. Four Yulon Luxgen players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks by American center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) did not help to save the game for Dacin Tigers.
