SBL Round 13: KKL loses to Fubon Braves - Mar 3, 2019

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game between second ranked KKL (16-12) and fourth ranked Fubon Braves (15-12) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. KKL was defeated by Fubon Braves in a tough game 88-96. Fubon Braves made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Costa Rican-Belizean forward Charles Garcia (208-88, college: Seattle) contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds for KKL. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fubon Braves moved-up to third place. KKL lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with 12 games lost. Fubon Braves are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7) in the next round. KKL will play against Pauian (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a loss of third ranked Dacin Tigers (14-13) against sixth ranked Pauian (14-14) on Sunday night. Dacin Tigers were defeated by Pauian in a tough game 97-103. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dacin Tigers. American players dominated the game. Swingman Orlando Johnson (196-89, college: UCSB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Kyle Meyer chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pauian have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Yulon Luxgen. Dacin Tigers at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Pauian will play against league's second-placed KKL in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dacin Tigers will play against Bank of Taiwan and hope to get back on the winning track.

Wei-Han Lin came up with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Yulon Luxgen in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Taiwan Beer have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-10 record. Loser Yulon Luxgen dropped to the fifth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Pauian. Taiwan Beer will meet league's second-placed KKL in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yulon Luxgen will play against Fubon Braves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 13 bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan were beaten by Dacin Tigers 84-79.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 20 points and 14 rebounds by Anthony McClain of Dacin Tigers.



Dacin Tigers - Bank of Taiwan 84-79

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Dacin Tigers (14-13) beat bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (6-22) 84-79 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Dacin Tigers outrebounded Bank of Taiwan 56-33 including a 40-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. His fellow American import guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Dacin Tigers players scored in double figures. American-Dominican forward Angel Nunez (203-91, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Bo-Sheng Zhang (185-87) added 23 points in the effort for Bank of Taiwan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Dacin Tigers have a solid series of three victories in a row. Despite that victory Dacin Tigers went down to fourth position due to points difference. Bank of Taiwan lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Dacin Tigers will face again bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7) in the next round. Bank of Taiwan will play against Fubon Braves and hope to win that game.

Taiwan Beer made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Taiwan Beer outrebounded Yulon Luxgen 46-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side and international point guard Yu-An Chang (174-91) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Taiwan Beer players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Wei-Han Lin (178-90) came up with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Yulon Luxgen in the defeat.
