There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

There was a change at the SBL leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Taiwan Beer (10-7). They were defeated by fourth ranked Fubon Braves (9-7) 93-88 on Saturday night. Fubon Braves forced 22 Taiwan Beer turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Taiwan Beer helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Costa Rican-Belizean forward Charles Garcia (208-88, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) who added 16 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Lithuanian swingman Edvinas Seskus (196-95) responded with 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fubon Braves have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-7 record. Taiwan Beer at the other side dropped to the third place with seven games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Yulon Luxgen. Taiwan Beer will play next round against league's leader Yulon Luxgen trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Fubon Braves will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked KKL on the road.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Yulon Luxgen as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Taiwan Beer) loss. Yulon Luxgen defeated 6th ranked Dacin Tigers at home 107-101. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dacin Tigers. The winners were led by American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks and Wei-Han Lin supported him with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 19 assists. Even 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) did not help to save the game for Dacin Tigers. Dacin Tigers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with KKL. Dacin Tigers at the other side keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Dacin Tigers will play next round against Bank of Taiwan trying to get back on the winning streak. Yulon Luxgen will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Taiwan Beer on the road.
Leading Taiwan Beer (10-7) recorded its seventh loss against fifth ranked Pauian on Sunday night. Pauian were defeated by fifth ranked Pauian (8-8) 83-79. The best player for the winners was Orlando Johnson who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Igor Zaytsev produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assistsfor Pauian. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. They have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 8-8 record. Loser Taiwan Beer dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Pauian will meet league's second-placed KKL in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Taiwan Beer will play against the league's leader Yulon Luxgen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: KKL lost to Dacin Tigers 86-100. Pauian managed to outperform Bank of Taiwan 89-75. KKL managed to beat Bank of Taiwan 96-88.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 32 points and 6 rebounds by Zoran Vrkic of KKL.



KKL - Fubon Braves 86-99

Very important is a loss of third ranked KKL (11-7) against fourth ranked Fubon Braves (9-7) on Friday night. KKL was defeated by Fubon Braves 99-86. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Fubon Braves brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Costa Rican-Belizean forward Charles Garcia (208-88, college: Seattle) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Wei-Che Lin (182-92) contributed with 19 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Fubon Braves players scored in double figures. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Croatian forward Zoran Vrkic (203-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for KKL.
