There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Taiwan Beer (9-2) against second ranked KKL on Friday night. KKL were edged by KKL (9-2) 104-101. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Taiwan Beer. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KKL made 13 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Taiwan Beer helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 31 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. KKL have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Taiwan Beer lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Taiwan Beer. KKL is looking forward to face Dacin Tigers (#5) in Taipei in the next round. Taiwan Beer will play against Pauian (#4) and is hoping to win this game.

Bank of Taiwan will meet higher ranked Fubon Braves (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Taiwan Beer will play against Pauian (#4) and hope to secure a win.

Tony Mitchell orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fubon Braves maintains sixth place with 3-7 record. Yulon Luxgen lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with six games lost. Fubon Braves' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7). Yulon Luxgen will play against Dacin Tigers (#5) in Taipei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: Fubon Braves were destroyed by KKL 88-69. Bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan unfortunately lost to Dacin Tigers 73-89. Pauian managed to beat Dacin Tigers 87-80.



Fubon Braves - Pauian 81-86

Very significant was Pauian's (#5) 86-81 victory against 6th ranked Fubon Braves. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fubon Braves. Pauian held Fubon Braves to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Pauian forced 22 Fubon Braves turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists.
