Sixth-ranked Bank of Taiwan (2-7) used its home court advantage to challenge top-ranked Taiwan Beer (8-0) on Friday. Taiwan Beer managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Taiwan Beer held Bank of Taiwan to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-89) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 6 rebounds. International Po-Hsun Chou (197-91) contributed with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Greg Smith (208-91, college: Fresno St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for Bank of Taiwan. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Taiwan Beer maintains first position with 8-0 record. Bank of Taiwan lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Taiwan Beer are looking forward to face Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Bank of Taiwan will play again against the league's leader Taiwan Beer (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.

At the losing side Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KKL have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-2 record behind leader Taiwan Beer. Yulon Luxgen at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. KKL will play against Fubon Braves (#5) in the next round. Yulon Luxgen will play against Fubon Braves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Even a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds by Anthony McClain did not help to save the game for Dacin Tigers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Taiwan Beer maintains first position with 8-0 record. Loser Dacin Tigers keep the fourth place with five games lost. Taiwan Beer will meet bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Dacin Tigers will play against Pauian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They maintain second position with 7-2 record behind leader Taiwan Beer. Defending champion Pauian keeps the sixth place with six games lost. KKL will face Fubon Braves (#5) in the next round. Pauian will play against Dacin Tigers in Taipei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Pauian beat Bank of Taiwan 89-73. Yulon Luxgen won against Bank of Taiwan 81-68. Dacin Tigers managed to outperform Fubon Braves 82-76.



Bank of Taiwan - Pauian 73-89

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Pauian (2-6) beat bottom-ranked Bank of Taiwan (2-7) 89-73 on Thursday. Pauian held Bank of Taiwan to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Emanuel Jones (200-85, college: UTRGV) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds. Center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) contributed with 8 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Pauian players scored in double figures. Power forward Joseph Taylor (205-85, college: Wyoming) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Greg Smith (208-91, college: Fresno St.) added 13 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Bank of Taiwan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 2-6 record. Bank of Taiwan lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Pauian will face higher ranked Dacin Tigers (#4) in Taipei in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
