Al Wahda Damascus (SBL) has agreed terms with 30-year-old American guard Donte McGill, who holds a double passport. McGill, who stands at 190cm and weighs 84kg, played college basketball at FIU. This marks his return to Damascus, where he previously played. McGill began this season at Al Markaziyyah in the Lebanese DLBL, putting up impressive numbers in 19 games: 20.2ppg, 4.7rpg, and 5.9apg. Last season, he played for Al Nasr Riyadh in the Saudi Arabian league.
In 2017, he was selected by the Lakeland Magic (G-League) in the fourth round (81st overall) of the draft.
He graduated from Florida International University and is currently in his ninth season in pro basketball.
McGill is a highly experienced player, having played in six different countries on three different continents - Europe, Asia, and North America. He has played professionally in Kazakhstan (Barsy Atyrau), Poland (Stal), Qatar (Al Wakrah), Saudi Arabia (Al Wehda), and the NBA G League (Delaware Blue Coats).
He won the Syrian League championship title in 2024.
McGill is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered the top international summer league on the market. He played for other colleges like Vincennes University and Goldey-Beacom College.
