Puglia tabs Russ Smith, ex Al Ittihad

Russ Smith

Tecnoswitch Ruvo di Puglia (Serie A2) inked experienced 34-year old American 183cm point guard Russ Smith (college: Louisville). He started the season at Al Ittihad in Syrian SBL league.the last season at Tabiat (Superleague) in Iranian league. He also played for HDL Nardo in Italian Serie A2 where in 16 games he averaged impressive 23.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.9apg and 1.0spg. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie A2 Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week (2 times).
In 2014 he was drafted by Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in second round (47th overall). The former University of Louisville star is in his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Smith is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to nine different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Smith has played professionally in China (Blue Whales, Sturgeons, Guizhou and Hainan Haixiang), Iran, Israel (Hapoel Beer Sheva), Puerto Rico (Cariduros), Turkey (Galatasaray), NBA (Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (Noblesville Boom, Iowa Wolves and Delaware Blue Coats) and The Basketball Tournament (The Ville).
Among many awards he played in the final of Iranian League in 2025. He was also selected to Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie A2 Guard of the Year back in 2023.
