Panionios Athens (GBL) signed 32-year-old American (who also holds a Syrian passport) 190cm point guard Keron DeShields (Tennessee State, agency: Diamond Sports). He was the top scorer at Al Riyadi in Lebanese DLBL. DeShields played in three leagues in two countries last year. He started at Al-Muharraq (Premier League) in Bahrain, then moved to Al Ittihad Jeddah in the Saudi Arabian SBL where he averaged 21.9ppg, 5.0rpg, 7.7apg, and 2.0spg in 11 games, helping them win the league title. DeShields was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL Second Team. He also played 13 games in the West Asia Super League, averaging 23.6ppg, 5.9rpg, 7.2apg, and 1.7spg, leading his team to the group final and earning a spot on the Asia-Basket.com All-West Asia Super League Final 8 Second Team. DeShields, a very experienced player, has played in eleven different countries on four continents thanks to pro basketball. He has experience in European, Asian, Latin American, and North American leagues. DeShields has played professionally in Argentina (Comunicaciones), Bahrain, Hungary (Debreceni Egyetem and Jaszbereny KSE), Israel (Ramat Gan, Maccabi Haifa, Afula, and Hapoel Hevel Modi'in), Italy (Latina and San Severo), Lebanon, Lithuania (Siauliai), Saudi Arabia, Venezuela (Trotamundos and Heroes), Dominican Republic (Metros), and Greece (Rethymno). In 2025, he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-FIBA Asia Cup Honorable Mention.
DeShields graduated from Tennessee State in 2016 and it'll be his 10th season in pro basketball. He played also for University of Montana for 3 years.
