Leopards v Bucks 3.30pm
Marines v Power 5pm

IF history is to repeat itself, Nkumba Marines will be champions of the 2006 MTN Basketball League. Since its inception in 1996, no team has ever won the first two games of the finals series and lost the championship.

And Marines go into today’s game leading the series 2-0 and can wrap up the championship with a win. This gives Power, winners in 2000, a daunting task of making history by making a comeback beginning with today’s game.

Last season Power lost to the same opponents 0-3 and they will be working hard to avoid the same whitewash. Norman Blick, Salim Ali, Boniface Okello, Karl Mugalu, Donald Blick, Carrol Bisereko and Julius Lutwama know that gold for the second year running is something need and will come out strongly.

Wilbrod Oketcho and Ken Balyejusa have had enough time to work out and must make amends for their bleak performances in the last two games if Power is to survive.

Allan Tawoda, Richard Balemwa, Mark Enabu and Michael Karuiki did well in game two and some little more effort can see them help Power push the series to the fourth game.

The recent ladies finals have been decided in game five and KCC Leopards will have themselves to blame if they fail to beat record champions Lady Bucks. Bucks lead the series 2-0 but Leopards welcome back their power forward Annett Nakiwu (has been in Tanzania for a Netball championship) and she can help them turn tables.

However with sharp shooting Judith Akoth and Flavia Oketcho Bucks are on track to winning the eighth championship
