D1 Round 8 (Regular Season): Al Ittihad beats Barada by three after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 8 in the D1 took place in Barada. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Barada (2-4) to top-ranked Al Ittihad (2-0) 65-62 in the game for the fourth place. Al Ittihad moved-up to fourth place. Barada lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Ashrafiyat. Al Ittihad are looking forward to face Al Ashrafiyat (#6) at home in the next round. Barada will play against Al Jalaa in Aleppo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Yarmouk is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their second consecutive match to seventh ranked Al Ashrafiyat (2-4) 61-57. Al Ashrafiyat moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Barada. Newly promoted Yarmouk still closes the standings with two games lost. Al Ashrafiyat will play against higher ranked Al Ittihad (#4) in Aleppo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yarmouk will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Al Sahel is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Al Thawra (3-1) 63-45 on Friday evening. Al Thawra have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 3-1 record behind leader Al Wahda. Al Sahel at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Al Thawra will meet at home league's second-placed Hutteen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Sahel will have a break next round.
