Division I Round 11: Thawra defeats Al Hurriyeh in the closest game of the week - Apr 13, 2019

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 11 in the Division I took place in Aleppo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Al Hurriyeh (2-6) to sixth ranked Thawra (4-4) 69-66 in the game for the sixth place. Thawra have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 4-4 record. Al Hurriyeh at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Al Yarmouk. Thawra are looking forward to face league's second-placed Al Jalaa in Aleppo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Hurriyeh will play at home against Al Wahda (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Aleppo. Second ranked host Al Jalaa (7-1) defeated 4th placed Al Wahda (5-3) 78-65. Al Jalaa maintains second place with 7-1 record behind leader Al Jaish. Al Wahda at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Karameh. Al Jalaa will play against Thawra (#6) in Damascus in the next round. Al Wahda will play on the road against Al Hurriyeh in Aleppo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Al Sahel (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Al Ittihad (6-2) 84-69 on Friday evening. Al Ittihad have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-2 record having just three points less than leader Al Jaish. Loser Al Sahel still closes the standings with eight games lost. Al Ittihad will meet Al Karameh (#5) in the next round. Al Sahel will play against Al Yarmouk (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 11 Al Yarmouk lost to Al Karameh on the opponent's court 65-71.



Al Hurriyeh - Thawra 66-69

Rather expected game in Homs where 8th ranked Al Yarmouk (2-6) was defeated by fifth ranked Al Karameh (5-3) 71-65 on Friday. Al Karameh moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Wahda. Al Yarmouk lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Al Hurriyeh. Al Karameh will meet at home higher ranked Al Ittihad (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Yarmouk will play against Al Sahel (#10) in Tartus and hope to secure a win.

Al Sahel - Al Ittihad 69-84

Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Al Sahel has finally registered their first victory this season after ten consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Naser (2-9) 97-96 on Saturday. Al Sahel maintains tenth place with 1-10 record. It was Naser's sixth loss in a row.
