Sri Lanka victoriously opened their U16 Asia Championship campaign. They overcame Macau in Level II opener. Hiruni Perera stepped up with 28 points to pace the winners.
Sri Lanka eked out a 19:15 lead after ten minutes of action. Macau picked up the tempo in the second quarter and did not allow their opponents to boost the gap. Sri Lanka were up by four points at the interval 33:29. They stretched the gap in the third quarter. Macau faced a 7-point deficit heading into the final frame. They got closer in the fourth period but Sri Lanka stayed calm and sealed the win at the end. Imesha Durage notched 14 points and added 9 rebounds in the victory. Hio Tong Ng answered with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Macau. Chou I Choi had 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
