Uzbekistan registered the second straight win at Asian Championship in Japan. They overcame Sri Lanka to stay on top of Level II standings at 2-0 record. Yelena Khusnitdinova (85) scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to pace the winners. Sri Lanka fell at 0-2 record after the loss.
Uzbekistan stunned their opponents in the opening quarter. They limited Sri Lanka to just 6 points in the period to record 20:6 lead. Uzbekistan stayed well in control throughout the second frame. They piled up a comfortable 43:18 halftime lead. Sri Lanka showed some signs of recovery in the third term. They outscored Uzbekistan to narrow the gap. But the Uzbek team unleashed 27 points in the final period and rallied to a confident win at the end. Irina Polunina (176-G-79) provided 14 points, while Ekaterina Obechkina (182-F-85) had 11 points and 10 boards in the win. Erabdi Gallage (86) answered with 11 points and 12 rebounds for Sri Lanka. Enanayake netted 10 points in the loss.
