Philippines U18 - Sri Lanka U18 72:62

Philippines recorded the second win at the U18 Asia Championship in Thailand. They nipped Sri Lanka to improve at 2-1 record in Level II standings. Sri Lanka suffered the third straight defeat at the tournament.
The first quarter turned into a tough physical battle. Neither side dominated as Philippines sneaked to a narrow 19:17 lead at the first break. Philippines started to clear off in the second term. They poured in 20 points to establish a 5-point lead at halftime. Philippines opened the third frame on a 15:6 run to take a comfortable lead. But Sri Lanka did not surrender. They answered with a 16:4 rally of their own to narrow the gap to just two points with one quarter remaining. Philippines needed an 11:0 run in the fourth quarter to escape for good in this one.
Marie Aseron (170-F-93) produced 23 points for Philippines. Elrica Castro (168-G-93) added 16 points in the victory. Buddika Wijenayake (162-G-92) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds for Sri Lanka. Chirishani Ranhaluge had 9 points in the loss.
