India U18 opened their Asia Championship campaign with victory. They stunned Sri Lanka in Level II competition. Both teams are fighting for top two spots in Level II group to have a chance to qualify in Level I for the next championship. India dominated from start to finish and celebrated a well-deserved victory. Sneha Rajguru produced 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort.
India stormed into the game. They fired 34 points in the opening period to earn a 22-point lead. India continued to march confidently in the second stanza. They ensured a 50:19 lead five minutes into the encounter. India finished the first half up by 34 points 53:19. Things hardly changed in the second half. India stayed in charge and eased past their opponents. India entered the fourth stanza with an insurmountable 41-point lead. India did not loosen the grasp and posted the initial win at the tournament.
Rajaganapathi and Kavita India scored 12 points each for the winners. Soniya Joy added 9 points and 7 rebounds for India. Lokukatagodage responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds for Sri Lanka. Buddika Wijenayake answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.
