Malaysia improved at 3-1 record in Group B of the Asian Championship. They toppled Sri Lanka today to get closer to the playoffs. Sri Lanka in the meantime suffered the fourth straight defeat.
Sri Lanka got to a surprising start to the game. They earned an 8:2 lead at the start of the game. Premila Beruwalage (81) kept Sri Lanka in charge as they posted a 16:14 advantage after ten minutes of action. Malaysia managed to climb on top just late in the second frame. Chai Ling Thoh accounted for a jumper giving the team a 25:24 advantage. Malaysia ensured a 30:28 lead at halftime. Malaysia opened the second half with an 18:4 rally to clear off to a safe distance. They grabbed an 18-point lead with ten minutes remaining. Malaysia coasted in the fourth period giving no chance for Sri Lanka at the end.
Siew Teng Ang (174-87) knocked down 19 points for Malaysia. Beng Fong Goh (164-G-82) added 11 points, while Suik May Kew (172-F-82) contributed 10 points in the winning effort. Premila Beruwalage nailed 15 points for Sri Lanka. Inoka JUWAN Pedige (82) had 13 points in defeat.
