KBL Round 10 (Regular Season): Anyang defeat Sono SG in the closest game of the week

After 10 rounds played we can already see who rules in the KBL and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Ninth-ranked Skygunners (3-8) gave a tough game to first ranked Anyang (8-2) on Sunday. Anyang managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Jeong-Hyeon Lee responded with 26 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anyang have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-2 record. Sono SG at the other side keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. Anyang are looking forward to face Seoul Knights (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sono SG will play against Mobis Phoebus in Ulsan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Sonicboom (7-4) against tenth ranked Daegu (2-10) on Sunday night. Host Sonicboom was defeated by Daegu in Busan 71-60. The former international forward Ricardo Ratliffe (203-1989, college: Missouri) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Samjosef Belangel supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Even 10 points and 7 rebounds by the former international forward Jeonghyeon Moon (195-2001) did not help to save the game for Suwon KT. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Daegu maintains tenth position with 2-10 record. Suwon KT at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Wonju DB. Daegu will play against higher ranked Seoul Thunders (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Suwon KT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Busan KCC Egis.
KCC Egis (#5) were upset in Seoul by eighth ranked Seoul Knights 76-68. Jameel Warney fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Shawn Long produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Seoul Knights (5-7) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mobis Phoebus. KCC Egis lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. Seoul Knights will meet league's leader Anyang on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KCC Egis' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Busan to the arena Suwon KT.

In the last two games of round 10 LG Sakers won against Seoul Knights on the opponent's court 80-75. Seoul Thunders unfortunately lost to Mobis Phoebus in a home game 79-92.




Anyang - Sono SG 78-75

Very expected game in Seoul where 8th ranked Knights (5-7) were defeated by second ranked Sakers (8-3) 80-75 on Sunday. LG Sakers outrebounded Seoul Knights 35-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. chipped in 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Darryl Monroe (202-1986, college: GMU) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Filipino guard Samjosef Belangel (177-1999) added 24 points respectively for lost side. Four LG Sakers and five Seoul Knights players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-3 record having just one point less than leader Anyang. Loser Knights dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Mobis Phoebus. LG Sakers will meet Wonju DB (#4) on the road in the next round. Seoul Knights will play against the league's leader Anyang and hope to secure a win.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Seoul where seventh ranked Mobis Phoebus (5-7) defeated 6th ranked Samsung Thunders (5-6) 92-79 on Monday. Mobis Phoebus looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Seoul Thunders' players.
