Seoul Samsung Thunders (KBL) agreed terms with experienced 35-year old Canadian ex-international power forward Andrew Nicholson (206cm-113kg-1989, college: St.Bonaventure) for new 2025-26 season. He is the second foreign player in the roster as Turkish Kerem Kanter signed here earlier.
He has played for the last two seasons at KoGas. In 52 KBL games in South Korea he was league's second best scorer with impressive 20.8ppg and averaged 8.3rpg last season. He was also named League Player of the Week (4 times) and named to Asia-Basket.com All-South Korean League Second Team. He also played for another South Korean team Korea Gas Corporation earlier that season.
In 2012 he was drafted by Orlando Magic (NBA) in first round (19th overall). The former St. Bonaventure University star is in his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Nicholson also represented Canada at the FIBA Americas in Mexico ten years ago. His team won Bronze and he had over 7 points per game.
He is quite experienced player. Nicholson has played also professionally in China (Guandong Tigers, Loong Lions and Sturgeons), Korea, Philippines (Bay Area Dragons) and NBA (Portland Trail Blazers, Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards).
Among many awards Nicholson's team won PBA Commissioner's Cup Regular Season in 2023. He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-South Korean League Honorable Mention in 2024.
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Seoul Thunders.
