James Mays
JAMES MAYS

Central African-American Power forward James Mays (205-F/C-86) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked LG Sakers, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 32-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, eight rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Samsung Th. (#8, 3-5) 91-79. LG Sakers is placed at 2nd position in South Korean KBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. LG Sakers will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. In the team's last game Mays had a remarkable 81.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be LG Sakers' top player in his first season with the team. Former Clemson University star has very solid stats this year. Mays is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.9ppg. Mays is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 13.1rpg) and averages impressive 60.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 33-year old American Brandon Brown (201-PF-85) of KCC Egis. Brown had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as KCC Egis was edged by slightly lower-ranked Samsung Th. (#8, 3-5) 80-77. This loss caused KCC Egis to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Brown is a newcomer at KCC Egis, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.3ppg (#6). He also registered 13.4 boards per game. Former Cal State - San Bernardino star Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (203-F-95) of Samsung Th. (#8). Mbala got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds . Despite Mbala's great performance Samsung Th. lost 79-91 to the higher-ranked LG Sakers (#2, 5-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Samsung Th. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mbala could try to bring Samsung Th.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Mbala has individually a great season in South Korea. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.6ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 8.6rpg (9th best). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 62.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ricardo Ratliffe (203-F-89) of Mobis Phoebus - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Hee-Jong Yang (194-F-84) of Anyang KGC - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Hongseok Yang (199-F-97) of Sonic Boom KT - 20 points and 10 rebounds
7. Marcus Landry (201-F-85) of Sonic Boom KT - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Sek-Eun Oh (200-C-87) of Anyang KGC - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists

10. Leon Williams (203-C/F-86) of SK Knights - 16 points and 15 rebounds
