KBL Round 6: Samsung Thunders defeat KCC Egis in the closest game of the week - Nov 1, 2018

After 6 rounds played we can already see who rules in the KBL and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the KBL took place in Jeonju. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked KCC Egis (4-4) to eighth ranked Samsung Thunders (3-5) 80-77 on Thursday evening. American point guard Glenn Cosey (183-92, college: E.Kentucky) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Gwan-Hee Lee (190-88) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Samsung Thunders maintains eighth position with 3-5 record. KCC Egis at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Samsung Thunders' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Seoul SK Knights.
KBL top team - Mobis Phoebus (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked ET Land Elephants (4-4) in Inchon 92-72. The former international forward Ricardo Ratliffe (203-89, college: Missouri) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Dae-Sung Lee supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: Rhode Island) did not help to save the game for ET Land Elephants. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mobis Phoebus maintains first position with 7-1 record. ET Land Elephants at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Mobis Phoebus will play against league's second-placed LG Sakers in Changwon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ET Land Elephants will play at home against Sonic Boom KT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the other side the best for losing team was Leon Williams who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anyang KGC maintains fourth position with 4-4 record, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated SK Knights. Anyang KGC will meet at home KCC Egis (#6) in the next round. SK Knights will play against KCC Egis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Changwon was also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Anyang KGC (4-4) played at the court of fifth ranked LG Sakers (5-3). LG Sakers defeated Anyang KGC 74-59. It was a good game for James Mays who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. LG Sakers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sonic Boom KT. Anyang KGC at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. LG Sakers' next round opponent will be league's leader Mobis Phoebus in Ulsan and it will be for sure the game of the week. Anyang KGC will play at home against KCC Egis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 6 Samsung Th. lost to LG Sakers on the opponent's court 79-91. Sonic Boom KT managed to outperform Goyang Orions in a home game 91-81.



SK Knights - Anyang KGC 68-98

The game in Seoul supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Anyang KGC (4-4) played at the court of 5th ranked SK Knights (4-4). Anyang KGC smashed SK Knights 98-68 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SK Knights. Anyang KGC looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Sek-Eun Oh (200-87) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Canadian forward Mikyle McIntosh (201-94, college: Oregon) chipped in 9 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and international guard Sunhyung Kim (187-88) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anyang KGC maintains fourth position with 4-4 record, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated SK Knights. Anyang KGC will meet at home KCC Egis (#6) in the next round. KBL top team - Mobis Phoebus (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked ET Land Elephants (4-4) in Inchon 92-72. Mobis Phoebus had a 34-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. LG Sakers - Anyang KGC 74-59

The game in Changwon was also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Anyang KGC (4-4) played at the court of fifth ranked LG Sakers (5-3). LG Sakers defeated Anyang KGC 74-59. LG Sakers dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Anyang KGC's 24. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a good game for Central African-American power forward James Mays (205-86, college: Clemson) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. American point guard Joshia Gray (185-93, college: LSU) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four LG Sakers players scored in double figures. Center Seung-Won Kim (202-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Canadian forward Mikyle McIntosh (201-94, college: Oregon) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Anyang KGC. Rather expected game in Changwon where 8th ranked Samsung Thunders (3-5) were defeated by fifth ranked LG Sakers (5-3) 91-79. 24 personal fouls committed by Samsung Thunders helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Central African-American power forward James Mays (205-86, college: Clemson) who led his team to a victory with 40 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. American point guard Joshia Gray (185-93, college: LSU) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (203-95) replied with 30 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Glenn Cosey (183-92, college: E.Kentucky) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Samsung Thunders. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. LG Sakers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sonic Boom KT. Very predictable result in Busan where fourth ranked Sonic Boom KT (5-3) defeated bottom-ranked Goyang Orions (2-6) 91-81. It was a good game for American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Hongseok Yang (199-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international power forward Jin-Soo Choi (202-89, college: Maryland) replied with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard JeQuan Lewis (185-94, college: VCU) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Goyang Orions. Four Sonic Boom KT and five Goyang Orions players scored in double figures. Sonic Boom KT have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with LG Sakers.
