This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in KBL and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was the first loss of Mobis Phoebus (6-1) in Seoul on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked SK Knights (4-3) 86-76. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. SK Knights looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. American-Dominican guard ODarien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. SK Knights' coach Kyungeun Moon used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Ricardo Ratliffe (203-89, college: Missouri) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for Mobis Phoebus. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mobis Phoebus at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. SK Knights is looking forward to face Anyang KGC (#6) at home in the next round. Mobis Phoebus will play against the league's second-placed ET Land Elephants (#2) in Inchon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Jeonju. Sixth ranked Sonic Boom KT (4-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked KCC Egis (4-3) 93-91 in the game for the second place. Ji-Hoon Park (-95) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Marcus Landry chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sonic Boom KT moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated KCC Egis. Sonic Boom KT will play against Goyang Orions (#9) in Daegu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KCC Egis will play at home against Samsung Thunders (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.

Despite that victory Anyang KGC went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with LG Sakers. Loser Samsung Thunders keep the eighth place with four games lost. Anyang KGC will meet LG Sakers (#7) in the next round. Samsung Thunders will play against KCC Egis in Jeonju and hope to secure a win.

Mobis Phoebus' next round opponent will be league's second-placed ET Land Elephants in Inchon and it will be for sure the game of the week. Anyang KGC will play on the road against LG Sakers (#7) in Changwon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 5 LG Sakers beat Goyang Orions on the road 107-102. DB Promy lost to ET Land on its own court 83-90.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Marcus Foster of DB Promy.



Goyang Orions - LG Sakers 102-107

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked LG Sakers (3-3) beat 9th ranked Goyang Orions (2-5) in Daegu 107-102. LG Sakers shot 60.7 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Goyang Orions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Central African-American power forward James Mays (205-86, college: Clemson) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. International center Jong-Kyu Kim (207-91) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. LG Sakers' coach Young-Min Kim allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard JeQuan Lewis (185-94, college: VCU) produced 22 points and 9 assists and the former international power forward Jin-Soo Choi (202-89, college: Maryland) added 24 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five LG Sakers and four Goyang Orions players scored in double figures. LG Sakers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anyang KGC. Goyang Orions lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. LG Sakers' next round opponent will be Anyang KGC (#6) at home. Goyang Orions will play against Sonic Boom KT in Busan and hope to win that game.

A very close game took place in Anyang between Anyang KGC and Samsung Thunders. Fourth ranked Anyang KGC (3-3) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Samsung Thunders (2-4). American point guard Randy Culpepper (183-89, college: UTEP, agency: Inception Sports) nailed 30 points and 6 assists for the winning side and Canadian forward Mikyle McIntosh (201-94, college: Oregon) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds. Anyang KGC's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (203-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Gwan-Hee Lee (190-88) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Samsung Thunders in the defeat. Four Samsung Thunders players scored in double figures. Anyang KGC have a solid series of three victories in a row. Rather expected game when 9th ranked DB Promy (2-6) lost to seventh ranked ET Land Elephants (4-3) in Wonju 83-90. The best player for the winners was American guard Giddy Potts (188-95, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds. International forward Hyo-Geun Jeong (200-93) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Marcus Foster (190-95, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Justin Tillman (203-96, college: VCU) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four DB Promy players scored in double figures. DB Promy's coach Sang-Bum Lee rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. ET Land Elephants moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. DB Promy at the other side dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. ET Land Elephants' next round opponent will be league's leader Mobis Phoebus in Ulsan and it will be for sure the game of the week.
