Egyptian Center Assem Marei (206-C-1992) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Changwon LG Sakers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 48.
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while his team outclassed Suwon KT (#7, 25-27) with 27-point margin 87-60. It allowed Sakers to consolidate first place in the South Korean KBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. LG Sakers has a very solid 36-16 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Marei turned to be Sakers' top player in his first season with the team. Former Minnesota State University Mankato star has very solid stats this year. Marei leads league in rebounds with 14.4rpg. Marei is in league's top in assists (5th best: 5.4apg) and averages impressive 2.0spg and 53.2% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American forward Ricardo Ratliffe (203-F-1989) of Daegu KoGas Pegasus. Ratliffe had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Daegu was edged by the higher-ranked Seoul Knights (#3, 32-20) 106-102. Daegu managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 16-37 record. Ratliffe is a newcomer at Daegu, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (208-F/C-1995) of Seoul Samsung Thunders (#10). Kanter showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, 16 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Kanter's great performance the Samsung Thunders lost 75-80 to the higher-ranked Wonju DB (#4, 32-21). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Seoul Thunders can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 15-37 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Kanter has individually a great season in South Korea. After 52 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.1ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 9.0rpg (7th best).
