KBL Round 45 (Regular Season): Anyang defeat Wonju DB in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 45 in the KBL took place in Wonju. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Wonju DB (29-21) to second ranked Anyang (32-17) 87-84 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Wonju DB. Anyang dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Wonju DB's 28. Anyang looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Junhyeong Byeon (186-1996) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists for the winners and American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Ethan Alvano (185-1996, college: CSUSM) with 25 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anyang maintains second place with 32-17 record having just two points less than leader LG Sakers. Wonju DB at the other side keeps the fourth position with 21 games lost. Anyang are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Seoul Thunders (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wonju DB will play against Sono SG (#5) in Daegu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Seoul. Fifth ranked Skygunners (27-23) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Knights (30-18) 78-77 on Wednesday evening. American power forward Nathan Knight (208-1997, college: William & Mary) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Kevin Quiambao accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Jameel Warney (203-1994, college: Stony Brook) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for Seoul Knights in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Skygunners have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Sono SG maintains fifth place with 27-23 record. Seoul Knights at the other side keep the third position with 18 games lost. Sono SG will play against higher ranked Wonju DB (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Seoul Knights will play against Mobis Phoebus in Ulsan and hope to get back on the winning track.

Seoul Thunders will meet at home league's second-placed Anyang in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mobis Phoebus will play against Seoul Knights (#3) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 45 Suwon KT lost to Anyang on the opponent's court 77-86. Wonju DB managed to outperform Daegu in a home game 78-74.



Anyang - Suwon KT 86-77

Very expected game when 7th ranked Sonicboom (23-26) was defeated on the road by second ranked Anyang (32-17) 86-77 on Sunday. Anyang looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 28 points. The former international guard Junhyeong Byeon (186-1996) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Jeonghyeon Moon (195-2001) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Derrick Williams (203-1991, college: Arizona) added 19 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Anyang maintains second place with 32-17 record having just two points less than leader LG Sakers. Loser Sonicboom keeps the seventh position with 26 games lost. Anyang will meet bottom-ranked Seoul Thunders (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suwon KT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Busan to the arena KCC Egis.

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Wonju DB (29-21) defeated at home 9th ranked Daegu (15-35) 78-74 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Wonju DB looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard In-Woong Park (186-2000) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Hyo-Geun Jeong (200-1993) chipped in 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Ricardo Ratliffe (203-1989, college: Missouri) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Seungmin Shin (195-1998) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Wonju DB and five Daegu players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Wonju DB maintains fourth place with 29-21 record. Daegu lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 35 games lost. Wonju DB will meet Sono SG (#5) in the next round. Daegu will play against the league's leader LG Sakers (#1) and hope to secure a win.
