KBL Round 6 (Regular Season): Suwon KT beat Wonju DB by three after a very close game

There were just 6 rounds played in Regular Season of KBL and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the KBL took place in Wonju. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Wonju DB (4-4) to fourth ranked Sonicboom (5-2) 84-81 on Tuesday evening. Suwon KT made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Wonju DB helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American forward Derrick Williams (203-1991, college: Arizona) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Ethan Alvano (185-1996, college: CSUSM) replied with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Wonju DB. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Suwon KT moved-up to second place, which they share with LG Sakers and Anyang. Wonju DB at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Suwon KT is looking forward to face Sono SG (#9) in Daegu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wonju DB will play on the road against Seoul Thunders (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
KBL top team - Egis (5-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Skygunners (2-5) in Daegu 64-58. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kyochang Kyo-Chang chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Egis have an impressive five-game winning streak. KCC Egis maintains first position with 5-1 record. Sono SG at the other side dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. KCC Egis will play against bottom-ranked Daegu (#10) in Incheon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sono SG will play on the road against Suwon KT in Busan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Daegu is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to third ranked Sakers (5-2) 76-68 on Monday evening. Carl Tamayo notched 24 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by Ricardo Ratliffe did not help to save the game for Daegu. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Anyang and Suwon KT. Loser Daegu still closes the standings with seven games lost. LG Sakers will meet Mobis Phoebus (#6) in the next round. Daegu will play against the league's leader KCC Egis (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 6 Mobis Phoebus were beaten by Anyang on the road 79-66. Seoul Knights won against Wonju DB on its own court 81-66.



Anyang - Mobis Phoebus 79-66

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Anyang (5-2) beat at home 6th ranked Mobis Phoebus (3-4) 79-66 on Sunday. notched 21 points and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the effort and American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by American center Rayshaun Hammonds (206-1998, college: Georgia) did not help to save the game for Mobis Phoebus. added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Anyang and four Mobis Phoebus players scored in double figures. Mobis Phoebus' coach Dong-hyun Cho rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Anyang moved-up to second place, which they share with LG Sakers and Suwon KT. Loser Mobis Phoebus keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Seoul Knights. Anyang will meet at home league's leader KCC Egis in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mobis Phoebus will play against LG Sakers (#3) and hope to secure a win.

KBL top team - Egis (5-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Skygunners (2-5) in Daegu 64-58. KCC Egis outrebounded Sono SG 45-26 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Filipino Kevin Quiambao (193-2001) scored 11 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Egis have an impressive five-game winning streak. There was an upset when higher ranked Wonju DB (4-4) lost to ninth ranked Knights (3-4) in Seoul 66-81 on Sunday. American center Jameel Warney (203-1994, college: Stony Brook) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and supported him with 17 points. Four Knights players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Ethan Alvano (185-1996, college: CSUSM) did not help to save the game for Wonju DB. His fellow American import center Henry Ellenson (208-1997, college: Marquette) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Seoul Knights moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mobis Phoebus. Loser Wonju DB keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Seoul Knights will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Wonju DB will play against Seoul Thunders (#8) and hope to secure a win.
