Goyang - LG Sakers 84-85 The most exciting game of round 13 in the KBL took place in Daegu. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Goyang (9-7) to second ranked LG Sakers (12-8) 85-84 on Sunday evening. LG Sakers dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Goyang's 28. American forward Dante Cunningham (203-1987, college: Villanova) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Jae-Do Lee (180-1991) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. LG Sakers' coach Sung-Won Cho used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Dedric Lawson (206-1997, college: Kansas) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and international guard Seonghyen Jeon (190-1991) added 27 points respectively for lost side. Four LG Sakers and five Goyang players scored in double figures. LG Sakers maintains second place with 12-8 record having just two points less than leader Anyang. Goyang at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. LG Sakers are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Suwon KT (#10) in Busan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Goyang will play on the road against Mobis Phoebus (#3) in Ulsan and it may be a tough game between close rivals. This time they beat 6th ranked Seoul Thunders (8-12) 77-73. Anyang made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American Omari Spellman (207-1997, college: Villanova) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Sek-Eun Oh (200-1987) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Anyang's coach Seung-Ki Kim allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Emanuel Terry (206-1996, college: LMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and forward Min-Gug Jang (199-1989) scored 16 points. Anyang maintains first place with 15-4 record. Seoul Thunders lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Anyang will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Seoul Thunders will play again against the league's leader Anyang (#1) and hope to secure a win. KoGas have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory KoGas went down to eighth position due to points difference. Suwon KT lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 11 games lost. They share the position with KCC Egis. KoGas will meet at home higher ranked Wonju DB (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Seoul Thunders were defeated at home 78-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Seoul Knights players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Seoul Thunders were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Jameel Warney (203-1994, college: Stony Brook) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. The former international Joon-Young Choi (200-1994) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Emanuel Terry (206-1996, college: LMU) answered with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Jung-Hyun Lee (191-1987) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Seoul Thunders. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Seoul Knights have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 9-10 record. Seoul Thunders lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Seoul Knights will play against KCC Egis (#9) in Jeonju in the next round.
