The Regular Season in D1 just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The biggest surprise of round 1 was guest Jeddah Utd's easy road victory over Jeddah 94-35 on Saturday evening. Jeddah Utd held Jeddah to an opponent 16.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.4 percent accuracy of the winners and had 31 for 48 from the free-throw line, while Jeddah only scored ten points from the stripe. Jeddah Utd forced 24 Jeddah turnovers and outrebounded them 55-44 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. 34 personal fouls committed by Jeddah helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Kwanza Murray (170-1996, college: Lincoln, PA) fired a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 9 steals for the winners. Maya Alshmatli chipped in 19 points. Kazakhstan forward Ksenia Korobkova (175-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
