Experienced American Jonathan Gibson (188-PG-1987) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Al-Ula and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 37-year old playmaker had the game-high 36 points adding four rebounds and two assists for Al-Ula in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Al Salam (#6, 6-10) with 64-point margin 128-64. Al-Ula maintains the 2nd position in Saudi Arabian SBL. They are still close to the very top. Al-Ula would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 14-2 record. In the team's last game Gibson had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range and got eight three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He turned to be Al-Ula's top player in his first season with the team. New Mexico State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gibson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 30.0ppg), assists (9th best: 3.6apg) and averages solid 62.7% FGP and 47.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Canadian forward Richard Amardi (206-F-1990, agency: BIG) of Al Khaleej. Amardi impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 23 rebounds. Of course he led Al Khaleej to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Al Safa (#9, 3-13) 94-55. Al Khaleej's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-11 record. Amardi is a newcomer at Al Khaleej and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was South Sudanese Dhieu Abwok (196-G-2001) of Al Safa of Safwa (#9). Abwok got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Abwok's great performance the Al Safa lost 55-94 to slightly higher-ranked Al Khaleej (#7, 5-11). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Abwok has individually a great season in Saudi Arabia. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (7th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
