Al Ittihad signs Marcel Jones, ex Huskies

Al Ittihad Jeddah (SBL) landed experienced 34-year old American (has also New Zealander passport) forward Marcel Jones (203-99kg-85, college: Oregon State). He joins another USA player Lavell Boyd who is already in the roster.
Jones played in the summer at Huskies in New Zealand NBL league. In 14 games he averaged impressive 20.5ppg, 11.2rpg (#2 in the league), 2.1apg and 1.9spg (in top 3). It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL 2nd Team, All-Domestic Players Team and League Player of the Week.
Last season he played with Al Ahli in Bahrain he was the second best scorer, second best rebounder and third best blockshooter in the league!! in 17 games he averaged impressive 28.4ppg, 16.8rpg, 4apg, 1.2spg 1.3bpg he also played with the team in FIBA Asia Champions Cup GBA Qualifiers in 4 games he averaged 21.5ppg, 12.3rpg, 3.3apg, 2.5spg.
In 2008 Jones was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in fourth round (50th overall).
He attended Oregon State and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball. Jones' team was regular season runner-up in Bahrain League.

Jones is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to fourteen different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America). Jones has played previously professionally also in Bosnia (HKK Zrinjski HT Mostar), Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo (Prishtina and Bashkimi), Qatar (Al Gharafa), Romania (Pitesti), Slovenia (Helios Suns), Syria (Al Wahda), Turkey (Akhisar Bld), United Kingdom and Bahrain (Al-Riffa) and New Zealand (Rangers, Jets, Rams and Saints).
His game is described as: Strengt: Forward with good size for the 3 position. Aggressive offensively using his length to go inside against smaller players Has a decent midrange game and some polished moves going to the basket Has good length, long wing span Solid rebounder Stays with in his comfort zone, doesn't try to do too much or get out of control Improved defensively showing the ability to pick up a fair number of steals His overall feel for the game is solid.
