Al Ahli Jeddah (SBL) landed experienced 34-year old Croatian power forward Filip Toncinic (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC). He started the season at H.Analitica in Croatian Premijer Liga. In 5 games he averaged 7.0ppg and 2.8rpg this season. The last season Toncinic played at Ilirija (Liga Nova KBM) in Slovenian league where in 13 games he had 6.0ppg and 2.6rpg. He also played for Mahram (Superleague) in Iranian league. In 13 games he recorded 6.0ppg and 2.5rpg. Toncinic also spent pre-season at Cedevita (also in Premijer Liga). But in only one game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound. He also played 2 games in ABA League where he got just 2.5ppg.
Among other achievements Toncinic received Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LEB Gold Honorable Mention award back in 2016.
He was a member of Croatian U20 National Team between 2002 and 2003.
Toncinic is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia and of course North America). Toncinic has played previously professionally also in Japan (Sendai 89ers), Kosovo (Drita), Syria, Spain (Andorra and Burgos) and Iran (Shahrdari Gorgan).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Al Ahli Jeddah.
Toncinic attended Texas A&M - Corpus Christi until 2010 and it is his ninth season in pro basketball.
