SBL Round 15: Al Ahli Jeddah is upset by Al Hilal - Feb 27, 2019

The Regular Season in SBL is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game between third ranked Al Ahli Jeddah (9-6) and fifth ranked Al Hilal (9-6) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Al Ahli Jeddah was defeated by Al Hilal in Riyadh 83-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Ahli Jeddah. Al Hilal moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Ahli Jeddah and Al Nasr. Al Hilal is looking forward to face league's second-placed Uhud in Medina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Ahli Jeddah will play at home against Al Nahda and is hoping to win this game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Riyadh. Second ranked Uhud faced 3rd placed Al Nasr. Guests from Medina (14-1) smashed host Al Nasr (9-6) 93-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Nasr. Uhud have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Fateh. Al Nasr at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Al Ahli Jeddah and Al Hilal. Uhud will play against Al Hilal (#3) in Riyadh in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al Nasr will play on the road against the league's leader Al Fateh in Al Hasa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Al Fateh delivered the fourteenth victory on Tuesday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Al Ittihad (8-7) 87-73 in Jeddah. The victory was the fourteenth consecutive win for Al Fateh. They maintain first place with 14-1 record, which they share with Uhud. Loser Al Ittihad dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Al Fateh will meet at home Al Nasr (#4) in the next round. Al Ittihad will play against Al Salam in Al-Awamiyah and hope to secure a win.
Bottom-ranked Al Nahda (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-55 loss to eighth ranked Al Ansar (4-11) in Al Khobar. Al Ansar maintains eighth place with 4-11 record. Al Nahda lost their twelfth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Al Ansar's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Wehda (#7) in Mecca and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Nahda will play on the road against Al Ahli Jeddah and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 15 Al Salam was defeated by Al Wehda in Mecca 91-78.



Al Wehda - Al Salam 91-78

There was no surprise in Mecca where 9th ranked Al Salam (3-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Al Wehda (5-10) 91-78. Al Wehda maintains seventh place with 5-10 record. Al Salam lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Al Wehda's next round opponent will be Al Ansar (#8) in Medina. Al Salam will play at home against Al Ittihad and hope to win that game.

Al Nahda - Al Ansar 55-88

Bottom-ranked Al Nahda (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-55 loss to eighth ranked Al Ansar (4-11) in Al Khobar.
