 2005-06 Season Wrap-Up
The season in Saudi Arabian league ended on March 9th.
10 team participate each year in the top level in Saudi Arabia in the Prince Faisal Cup, Premier League and League Championships..
The final results in these 3 compatitions:

Prince Faisal Cup: winner: Ittihad
Usually the regular season in Saudi Arabia starts with knockout stage.
The teams are divided in two groups where the top two teams qualify from each group.
This year the winner was Ittihad, while Ansar was second and both Ahli and Ohud tied for the third position.
At this stage only local players were allowed to participate, but no imports. It was changed comparing to previous seasonn, where two imports per team were allowed.
The federation wanted to give more playing time to local players.

Saudi Arabian Premier League (10 teams):
1. Al Ittihad (champion)
2. Al Ahli
3. Ohod
Relegated to 1st Division:
Al Khaleej and Al Fateh
Promoted to Premier Division:
Al Nahda and Al Maseerah (for the first in its history)

Saudi Arabian Championships / Elite Cup (6 teams):
Group A:
1. Al Ahli
2. Al Ansar
3. Al Qadsia
Group B:
1. Al Ittihad
2. Ohod
3. Al Hilal
The teams were divided in two groups of three teams each. The first round was on knockout basis. Four teams qualified to the second round: Al Ahli, Al Ansar, Ittihad and Ohod.
Semifinals:
Al Ahli - Ohod 2-0
Ittihad - Al Ansar 2-1
3rd Place Game: Ohod beat Al Ansar
Final: Al Ahli - Al Ittihad 2-1

The final was between two teams from Jaddah in best of three series. The arena was packed full with 8,000 screaming fans from both clubs.
Al Ittihad tried hard to continue its monopoly and domination of Saudi basketball resting on its experince and past glories at the local, gulf and Asian level.
Al Ahli have not won a single basketball trophy in the last twenty nine years, but this year they were able to do so and won the series (2/1).
The three games serie was an intense battle between the two teams mainly Al Ahli MVP throughout the series & championchip Daymond Forney &co vs Al Ittihad Stephen Howard (207-F-70, college: De Paul), Ali Magrabi and co.
In general Al Ahli performance throughout the competition was the the most consistant and they deserved their win.
Along the way Al Ahli beat Al Hilal by more than twenty points, Al Ansar by more than thirty points and Al Ittihad by fourteen points in the first game. They lost the second game by three points and in third game Al Ahli won by 8 points after making agreat comeback from being 18 points down.
