Malaysia overcame Indonesia for the opening victory at the tournament. Yi Hou Wong (191-G/F-96) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Malaysia established a 34:21 halftime advantage. They extended the gap at 23-point mark heading into the final stanza. Malaysia held their opponents to just 11 points in the fourth quarter and sealed the win. Tian Yuan Kuek (200-C-91) dropped 15 points for the winners. Yerikho Tuasela (178-G-94) responded with 17 points for Indonesia.

Singapore - Philippines 59-81
Philippines fired past Singapore to improve at 2-0 record in Bangkok. Jiovani Jalalon (175-PG) posted 17 points to lead the winners. Philippines jumped to a 27:14 lead ten minutes into the game. They extended the margin at 18-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. Philippines sank 22 points in the final period to ice the victory. Almond Vosotros (175-PG) had 14 points for the winners. Goh Delvin (199-C-95) responded with 17 points for Singapore.
