Philippines opened SEABA womens championship campaign with a confident victory. The hosts of the tournament crushed Singapore. Fatima Tolentino (C-87) scored 19 points to lead the hosts.
Philippines opened the game with ten points in a row. They cruised in the opening frame to take a 19:7 lead after ten minutes. Singapore looked woeful in offense as they scored just five points in the next period. The home side accumulated more than a comfortable advantage 44:12 at halftime. Philippines controlled the tempo in the third stanza. They established a 73:29 buffer with ten minutes to go in the game. Singapore had little to answer with in the final quarter and surrendered at the end. Merenciana Arayi (85) notched 14 points for the home side. Bernadette Mercado (86) and Cassandra Tioseco (180-C-87) accounted for 10 points each in the win. Tan Jun Wei (183-F-94) responded with 16 points for Singapore. Ang finished with 8 points in the loss. Philippines will take a rest tomorrow, while Singapore will face Indonesia. Five teams will play in a single round robin with two best teams qualifying for the championship game.

Malaysia celebrated the first win at the SEABA championship that tipped off in Manila tonight. They held off Indonesia in the opener. Woon Yuen Teo (163-G-85) came up with 19 points to lead the charge.
Malaysia started the game strongly. They limited Indonesia to only 10 points in the first quarter to take an 11-point lead. Malaysia kept their opponents at bay throughout the second term. They piled up a 38:29 lead at the interval. Indonesia could not get too close in the third period. They faced a 10-point deficit at the final intermission. Malaysia stepped on the gas in the final quarter. Indonesia could not keep up with the tempo and had to yield at the end. Hui Pin Pang (176-90) knocked down 13 points for Malaysia. Wei Yin Saw (168-G-92) finished with 12 points in the victory. Wati answered with 22 points for Indonesia. Christaline chipped in 14 points in the loss. Malaysia will take on Thailand, while Indonesia will face Singapore tomorrow.
