Philippines clinch title in Jakarta

Indonesia - Philippines 50-89
Philippines claimed the SEABA Championship title tonight. They toppled
hosting Indonesia for the trophy. It is the eighth title for Philippines
at the tournament.
Andy Mark Barroca (198-F/C-88) stepped up with 17 points to pace the
effort. Philippines opened the game with eleven points in a row. They
maintained the lead and arrived at the first break up by as many as 21
points 31:10. Indonesia showed character as they outscored their
opponents in the second period. Indonesia cut the deficit at 19-point
mark at halftime 27:46. But the third term once again belonged to
Philippines fully. They dominated every facet of the game and recorded a
67:35 advantage at the final intermission. Philippines did not slow down
in the fourth quarter and rallied to a comprehensive win at the end.
Marcus Eugene Douthit (211-F/C-80, college:
Providence) delivered 16 points and 7 rebounds, while
Christopher John Tiu (178-PG-85) added 13 points for the winning
side.
Rony Gunawan (193-F/C-80) answered with 14 points for Indonesia.
Faisal Julius Ahmad (180-G-81) had 12 points in defeat.
Philippines and Indonesia enter Final - Jun 25, 2011
Singapore - Philippines 51-106
Philippines recorded the third straight win at the 9th SEABA
Championship in Indonesia. They drubbed Singapore to stay undefeated.
Japeth Paul Aguilar (207-C-85, college:
W.Kentucky) and
Andy Mark Barroca (198-F/C-88) stepped up with 18 points each to
pace the winners. Philippines stunned their opponents early in the game.
They outscored Singapore 30:9 in the starting ten minutes. Philippines
dominated every facet of the game as the lead grew at 37 points 60:23 at
halftime. Singapore showed some signs of life in the third term. They
outscored Philippines to narrow the deficit. But the fourth frame sealed
Singapore fate as they conceded 29 points and suffered a heavy loss at
the end.
Marnel Baracael (193-F/G-85) provided 17 points, while
Dylan Simon Ababou (193-G/F-86) added 14 in the win.
Wong Wei Long (172-G-88) responded with 20 points for Singapore.
Lim ShengYu (190-F-90) accounted for 10 points in the loss.
Indonesia - Malaysia

Indonesia claimed the second win at the SEABA Championship in Jakarta.
The hosts overcame Malaysia to set up the clash against Philippines in
Grand Final. Malaysia in the meantime booked the ticket to Fiba Asia
Championship despite the loss. They earned the third place at the
tournament having won one game in three games played. The teams got to a
slow start. They combined for 14 points in the opening term as Indonesia
secured a 10:4 lead.
Andi Poedjakesuma (187-F-80) drained two triples early in the second
period to give Indonesia a 12-point lead. However
Shee Fai Loh (189-G-89) answered with a pair of triples late in the
half as Malaysia got within six points 27:33 at halftime.
Christian Ronaldo Setepu (198-F/C-86) and
Andi Poedjakesuma restored a double-digit lead for Indonesia early
in the third quarter. The hosts maintained the advantage as they entered
the fourth frame up by ten points 53:43. Indonesia opened the fourth
frame with a 22:2 rally to pull away for good.
Christian Ronaldo Setepu notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead
the charge.
Amin Prihantono (188-F-82) and
Andi Poedjakesuma added 14 points each in the victory.
Li Wei Chee (186-F-85) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds for
Malaysia.
Shee Fai Loh contributed 11 points in the loss.
Philippines and Malaysia post victories on Day
2 in Jakarta - Jun 24, 2011
Indonesia - Philippines 54-94
Philippines remained perfect at the 9th SEABA Championship in Jakarta.
They stormed past Indonesia tonight to improve at 2-0 record. Indonesia
in the meantime slipped at 1-1 record.
Christopher Ryan Lutz (191-G-85, college:
Marshall) stepped up with 20 points to pace well-balanced Filipino
team. Philippines gave no chance for Indonesia in this one. The visitors
built a 20:9 lead after the starting frame. The second period turned
disastrous for Indonesia defence. The hosts conceded 29 points to trail
by as many as 27 points at the interval 22:49. Philippines continued to
dominate after the main break. They stretched the lead to 33 points
heading into the fourth frame. Indonesia had little to answer with and
had to surrender at the end.

Malaysia celebrated the crucial win at the SEABA Championship in
Jakarta. They overcame Singapore in the race for one of three Fiba Asia
Championship qualifying spots.
Shee Fai Loh (189-G-89) notched 19 points to pace Malaysia as they
improved at 1-1 record. Singapore slipped at 0-2 record after the loss.
Malaysia grabbed the lead midway through the opening period and raced to
a 21:17 advantage after ten minutes. Malaysia opened a double-digit lead
in the second term. They arrived at halftime up by 14 points 44:30.
Malaysia did not slow down after the big break.
Li Wei Chee (186-F-85) and John NG Yeo Song made it 55:37 for
Malaysia. Singapore faced a massive 37:60 deficit at the start of the
fourth quarter. Singapore went on a 17:0 run midway through the fourth
period to narrow the deficit at 7 points but it was not enough. Wei Hong
Choo knocked down a jumper to seal the win for Malaysia late in
regulation.
Li Wei Chee notched 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for
Malaysia.
Chuan Chin Wee (180-G-84) added 10 points for the winners.
Wong Wei Long (172-G-88) answered with 20 points for Singapore.
Matialakan Pathman (198-C-80) had 10 points and 9 boards in the
loss.
Philippines and Indonesia take victories on Day
1 in Jakarta - Jun 23, 2011
Philippines - Malaysia 97:71 Strong second half rally propelled Philippines to the opening
win at the 9th SEABA Championship in Jakarta. They rallied past Malaysia
in the opener.
Joseph Evans Casio (177-PG-86) stepped up with 19 points to lead the
winners.
Malaysia tipped off the game with a 9:0 run to set up the tone. They
kept the Filipino team at bay before Tiu and
Marcus Douthit (211-F/C-80, college:
Providence) made it 20:20 entering the second term. Philippines
pulled in front early in the second quarter but not for too long.
Malaysia increased the tempo and cleared off to a 41:36 advantage at
halftime. However Philippines returned from the dressing room a
different team. They stiffened their defence and managed to take the
lead late in the period.
Joseph Evans Casio made it 63:57 for Philippines at the final break.
The fourth quarter turned into a one-way traffic. Philippines finally
adjusted their offence as they erupted for 34 points and rallied to a
comfortable win at the end.

Marcus Douthit added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the winners.
Ho Yeow Loong (178-G-88) answered with 11 points for Malaysia.

Indonesia - Singapore 71:60 Indonesia celebrated the first win at 9th SEABA Championship
held in Jakarta. The hosts overcame Singapore to improve at 1-0 record.
Ponsianus Indrawan (190-C-85) stepped up with 12 points and 10
rebounds to pace the hosts. Indonesia used a killer 23:6 run in the
fourth term to celebrate victory at the end.
Indonesia opened the game with 7:0 run and led throughout the starting
period. The home team posted a 16:14 lead ten minutes into the game.
However Steve Khoo and Folkoff helped Singapore take a 27:24 lead midway
through the second term. Singapore kept in charge as they registered a
34:31 lead at halftime. Folkoff made it 45:37 for Singapore midway
through the third quarter. The visitors arrived at the final break up by
six points 54:48. But Indonesia did not say die. They went on an 18:2
run at the start of the fourth frame to clear off for good in this one.
