Doha – April 15, 2026

The final match of the Qatar Basketball Cup for the 2025–2026 sports season will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, as Al-Arabi and Al-Shamal face off in the closing event of the 13th edition of the tournament. The clash promises a direct battle for the title, following two contrasting semifinal journeys that culminated in well-deserved qualification for both teams.

Al-Arabi booked its place in the final after a marathon encounter against Al-Rayyan, decided in overtime with a dramatic 104–103 victory. The game was one of the most thrilling contests of the tournament, with both sides exchanging momentum across four quarters before Al-Arabi sealed the win in the dying seconds of extra time.

In contrast, Al-Shamal advanced to the final with a commanding and disciplined performance against Al-Wakrah, securing a clear 71–56 victory. From the first quarter, Al-Shamal imposed its dominance, maintaining control throughout the match thanks to strong defensive play and tactical discipline, earning its ticket to the final without the need for late drama.

The anticipated final reflects the different paths taken by the two teams: Al-Arabi endured a grueling test that stretched into overtime, while Al-Shamal progressed with stability and decisiveness. This contrast adds an important technical dimension to the showdown.

Historically, Al-Arabi holds a distinguished record in the competition, sharing the lead with Al-Gharafa as the most decorated clubs in Qatar Cup history, with four titles each. This experience makes Al-Arabi a perennial contender in decisive stages. Meanwhile, Al-Shamal enters the final with the ambition of writing a new chapter in its sporting history, aiming to secure its first-ever Qatar Cup title after a standout season that showcased its ability to compete with the elite.

This final represents a historic opportunity for both sides: Al-Arabi seeks to add a fifth title to strengthen its place among the champions, while Al-Shamal aspires to achieve a breakthrough triumph that would place its name on the list of title winners for the first time. To date, Al-Rayyan, Al-Wakrah, and Al-Sadd have each won the cup once.
