Doha – April 1, 2026:
All eyes will turn to Al Gharafa Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, for the second clash in the best-of-three series of the 45th edition of the Qatar Men’s Basketball League Finals (2025–2026 season). The showdown features Al Arabi and Al Rayyan in a fierce battle, with fans anticipating either an early championship clinch by Al Arabi or a strong response from Al Rayyan to force a decisive third game. Al Arabi enters the contest with high confidence and morale after securing a 79–71 victory in Game One. The team imposed its tactical style with a strong start, disciplined defense, and diverse offensive solutions in critical moments, earning an early advantage in the series and moving just one step away from the championship title. The team knows that winning Game Two would seal the title without the need for a third encounter, giving them extra motivation to deliver a balanced performance that combines defensive solidity with offensive discipline, while avoiding mistakes that could allow Al Rayyan back into the series—especially given Rayyan’s experience in handling decisive matches. On the other side, Al Rayyan approaches the game with a clear, uncompromising slogan: “Victory is the only option.” The team realizes that another defeat would officially end its title hopes, while a win would level the series and force a decisive final showdown. If Al Rayyan succeeds, the deciding game will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in what is expected to be the most intense and dramatic encounter of the season. Should Al Arabi prevail, they will be crowned champions without the need for a third game, completing a perfect journey to the podium. The road to the finals highlighted Al Arabi’s dominance, as they swept Al Sadd 2–0 in the semifinals with wins of 95–78 and 76–74, proving their readiness to compete for the title until the end. Al Rayyan also advanced steadily, eliminating Al Ahli with the same 2–0 result, winning 93–69 and 93–88 in a hard-fought series. The Qatar Basketball Federation unveiled the new design of the league championship shield this season, along with the gold, silver, and bronze medals. This marks the 45th edition of the competition since its launch in the 1981–1982 season, which saw Al Arabi crowned as the inaugural champions. Throughout the league’s history, Al Rayyan stands as the record holder with 18 titles, followed by Al Arabi with 10, Qatar SC with 7, while Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Shamal, and the former Al Jaish each claimed two titles. Al Ahli won the championship once, in the 2000–2001 season. |
