Johnson's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

30-year old American guard Nigel Johnson (187-G-1995) had a very impressive game in the last round for Al Ahli Sports Club Doha and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
He got a double-double of 34 points and 11 assists, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Qatar Club (#9, 0-5) with 31-point margin 114-83. Al Ahli is placed at 6th position in Qatari league. Al Ahli is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. In the team's last game Johnson had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Al Ahli's top player in his first season with the team. The University of Virginia graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (4th best: 23.6ppg), assists (7th best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 50.0% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention Johnson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Abdulla Mousa (184-PG-2008) of league's second-best Al Rayyan Doha. He is international guard in his 4th season at Al Rayyan. In the last game Mousa recorded an impressive double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he led Al Rayyan to another comfortable win 94-81 over Al Khor (#8, 0-4) being unquestionably team leader. Al Rayyan's second position in the standings has not changed. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 4 games without any defeat. Mousa is one of the most experienced players at Al Rayyan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Jesse Jones (183-PG) of Al Khor (#8). Jones got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. He went also for nine rebounds and four assists. Despite Jones' great performance the Al Khor lost 81-94 to the league's current leader Al Rayyan (#2, 4-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Khor can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Jones has individually a great season in Qatar. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 36.5ppg (best scorer) and assists with 5.5apg (5th best).
