QBL Round 3 (Regular Season): Al Rayyan keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Al Rayyan smashed Al Shamal in Doha 92-65. Al Rayyan outrebounded Al Shamal 40-25 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international center Tyler Harris (208-1993, college: Auburn) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. helped adding 18 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Shane Rector (188-1994, college: Utah St.) with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Shamal will play next round against Al Wakrah trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Rayyan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
The game in Al Khor supposed to be also worth to mention about. Al Arabi (2-0) played at the court of Al Khor (0-2). Al Arabi smashed Al Khor 100-77. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Tyree Corbett (201-2000, college: Denver) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Abdulrahman Saad accounted for 9 points and 11 rebounds. Al Arabi's coach Hatem Mamlouk felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Jesse Jones (183, college: Bridgeport) came up with 45 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 9 assists for Al Khor in the defeat. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Club.
The game in Al Wakrah was also quite interesting. Al Ahli (1-2) played at the court of Al Wakrah (2-1). Al Wakrah managed to secure a 5-point victory 66-61 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was Bakary Camara who scored 18 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Taylor Adway who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds. Al Wakrah will meet Al Shamal (#4) in the next round. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.

In the last game of round 3 winless Qatar Club lost to Al Sadd on the opponent's court 78-95.




Al Khor - Al Arabi 77-100

The game in Al Khor supposed to be also worth to mention about. Al Arabi (2-0) played at the court of Al Khor (0-2). Al Arabi smashed Al Khor 100-77. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 30. They outrebounded Al Khor 45-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Tyree Corbett (201-2000, college: Denver) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Abdulrahman Saad (185-1996) accounted for 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Very expected game in Doha where Qatar Club (0-3) was defeated by Al Sadd (2-1) 95-78 on Wednesday. Al Sadd looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Sudanese-Australian forward Deng Adel (201-1997, college: Louisville) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Jamaican guard Josh Nicholas (190-1998, college: ULM, agency: Allstars Agency) who recorded 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (203-1990, agency: Allstars Agency) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Al Sadd and five Qatar Club players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
