Doha, Qatar – July 24, 2025 The Qatar reserve basketball team will begin its journey in the 26th Arab Men’s Basketball Championship with an anticipated matchup against host nation Bahrain. The tournament, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from July 25 to August 2, 2025, will officially open with this clash.

The opening game is scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2025, at 8:00 PM at Khalifa Sports City Arena. The championship follows a single-round-robin format, featuring seven Arab national teams: Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, the UAE, and Kuwait. The team finishing at the top of the standings will claim the title.

The draw has set a packed schedule for Qatar, facing Egypt on Saturday, July 26, followed by Algeria on Tuesday, July 29, and the UAE on Wednesday, July 30. Qatar will conclude its campaign with matches against Kuwait and Tunisia on August 1 and 2, respectively.
Recently, the Qatar reserve team competed in the 44th William Jones International Basketball Tournament in Taipei, China, gaining valuable experience against strong teams and assessing their readiness for the Arab Championship.
Notably, Bahrain secured the hosting rights for this edition after Tunisia’s withdrawal, marking the Kingdom’s first official hosting of the tournament since its inception in 1974. Extensive organizational and technical preparations are underway to ensure a successful event.
