Faye number one in Qatar Cup for round 1

Senegalese Power forward Mouhammad Faye (207-F/C-1985) had an amazing evening in the last round for Al Rayyan Doha, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 38-year old player tried to help (25 points, eight rebounds and two assists) his team in a lost game to Qatar Club (#3, 1-1) 76-80. Al Rayyan moved-up to the 4th position in Qatari Cup. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 2 games and recorded no victories. In the team's last game Faye had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Al Rayyan's top player in his first season with the team. Former Southern Methodist University star has very solid stats this year. Faye is in league's top in points (8th best: 20.5ppg) and averages impressive 2.0bpg,66.7% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Bruce Massey (190-G-1990, agency: BIG) of league's leader Al Ahli Sports Club Doha. Massey had a very good evening with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. It was enough for Al Ahli to edge Al Sadd (1-1) 64-58. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Massey is a newcomer at Al Ahli, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 8.0rpg and 5.5apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Tyler Harris (208-C-1993, agency: AG Sports Solutions) of Al Shamal Doha (#4). Harris scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Harris' great performance the Al Shamal lost 60-80 to #1 ranked Al Wakrah. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The season just started for Harris as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Harris attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
