Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Second defeat of league's leader Al Arabi (7-2) against second ranked Al Ahli (7-2) 79-70 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Al Arabi. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a good game for international forward Mohammed Abbasher (198-2004) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International forward Ndoye Seydou (201-1999) contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Mohamed Hussein (203-1996) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Al Arabi. Al Ahli have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Al Arabi. Al Arabi will play next round against Al Sadd trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha - Al Sadd. Al Ahli will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Qatar Club. It will be extra interesting game as Qatar Club is their local rival from Doha.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#5) and Qatar Club (#4). Qatar Club was defeated at home 79-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-1992, college: URI) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Nedim Muslic chipped in 16 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Holland Woods II (184-1999, college: GCU, agency: Octagon Europe) with 32 points and 5 assists. Al Gharafa (5-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Wakrah. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Shamal.

Al Khor lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.

In the last game of round 9 Al Sadd was beaten by Al Wakrah on the road 83-74.
The most impressive performance of 9th round was 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists by Darious Clark of Al Wakrah.




Al Shamal - Al Khor 95-84

The game between eighth ranked Al Shamal (3-6) and 9th ranked Al Khor (1-8) in Doha on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Al Shamal beat guests from Al Khor 95-84. Al Shamal dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 34. Nigerian point guard Uchenna Iroegbu (183-1996, college: Stony Brook) nailed 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists for the winning side and Palestinian-Canadian forward Shane Osayande (200-1993, college: Saskatchewan) accounted for 14 points and 11 rebounds. Iroegbu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: BIG) came up with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Egyptian center Omar Salem (205-1983) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Al Khor in the defeat. Five Al Shamal and four Al Khor players scored in double figures. Al Shamal moved-up to seventh place. Al Khor lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#5) and Qatar Club (#4). Qatar Club was defeated at home 79-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Gharafa made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Al Gharafa outrebounded Qatar Club 43-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-1992, college: URI) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international forward Nedim Muslic (196-1998) chipped in 16 points and 16 rebounds. No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Al Wakrah (5-4) beat at home 8th ranked Al Sadd (2-7) 83-74 on Wednesday. Al Wakrah outrebounded Al Sadd 43-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Palestinian-Jordanian forward Hashem Abbaas (198-1999, college: Bridgeport) nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Diamond Sports) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Clark is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. American Darryl Owens came up with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and international forward Babacar Dieng (196-1997) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Al Sadd in the defeat. Al Wakrah moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Gharafa. Al Sadd lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Al Wakrah will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
