The most exciting game of round 6 in the QBL took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Al Sadd (2-4) to sixth ranked Al Gharafa (4-3) 78-75 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for the former international forward Nedim Muslic (196-1998) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-1992, college: URI) contributed with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American Darryl Owens replied with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for Al Sadd. Al Gharafa moved-up to third place. Al Sadd lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Al Gharafa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Sadd will play on the road against Al Wakrah (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Ahli D. (#4) and Al Sadd (#7). Al Sadd was defeated at home 63-78 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. American guard Bruce Massey (190-1990, college: MTSU, agency: BIG) scored 16 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Mohammed Abbasher chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Ronald Delph (213-1993, college: FAU) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Al Ahli have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Al Sadd lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. Al Ahli will play against Al Khor (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Al Sadd will play against Al Wakrah and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
