QBL Round 3 (Regular Season): Al Wakrah hands first loss to Qatar Club

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Qatar Club (2-1) on the court of Al Wakrah on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Al Wakrah 96-74. It was a good game for American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-1989, college: Longwood) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international center Ndour Mame Souleye (206-1987) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Al Wakrah's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sindou Diallo (194-2000, college: Montana Tech) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds for Qatar Club. Al Wakrah is looking forward to face Al Shamal (#8) in Doha in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Qatar Club's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
Important game to mention about took place in Doha. Al Sadd (1-1) saved a 1-point victory at home edging Al Shamal (1-3) 60-59 in the game for the seventh place. It was a great evening for international Omar Saad (182-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Ronald Delph helped adding 10 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Tyler Harris (208-1993, college: Auburn, agency: AG Sports Solutions) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Ahli D. (#7) and Al Gharafa (#5). Al Gharafa was crushed at home by 34 points 61-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was an exceptional evening for Mohammed Abbasher who led the winners and scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Nedim Muslic came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for Al Gharafa in the defeat. Al Ahli D.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.

The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 14 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals by Bruce Massey of Al Ahli D..

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Ahli D. (#7) and Al Gharafa (#5). Al Gharafa was crushed at home by 34 points 61-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Ahli D. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Al Gharafa's 40. Al Ahli D. forced 19 Al Gharafa turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Ahli D. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Al Gharafa's players.
