Al-Ahli-Sports-Club-Doha (QBL) signed 30-year old Canadian-DR Congolese ex-international guard Myck Kabongo (190cm-82kg-1992, college: Texas). Kabongo played last season at Cape Town Tigers in South African BAL league. In 8 Basketball Africa League games he had 9.1ppg, 5.0rpg, 6.3apg and 2.5spg. He helped them to make it to the quarterfinals. Kabongo also played for Al Rayyan in Qatari QBL where in 9 games he recorded very impressive stats: 25.7ppg, 9.6rpg, 9.1apg and 1.3spg.
In 2015 (two years after his graduation) he was drafted by Delaware 87ers (D-League) in second round (24th overall).
He graduated from University of Texas in 2013 and it is his tenth season in pro basketball.
Kabongo has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014.
He was also a member of Canadian international program for some years. Kabongo played for Canadian Senior National Team back in 2009 and previously for U18 National Team in 2010.
He represented Canada at the Afrobasket Championship six years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 14.5ppg, 5.8rpg, Assists-2 (4.8apg), Steals-3 (2.8spg), FGP: 43.3%, 3PT: 40.0%, FT: 63.6%.
Kabongo is quite experienced player. He has played in eleven different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). Kabongo has played previously professionally in Denmark (Svendborg), France (STB Le Havre), Mexico (Rayos de Hermosillo), Romania (Pitesti), Saudi Arabia (Al Nassr), Spain (Zornotza), Sweden (Sodertalje), Mozambique (Ferroviario de Maputo), Canada (High School and Guelph), NBA G League (Austin Spurs, Texas Legends, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, College Park SkyHawks and Raptors 905 Missisauga) and North Macedonia (Akademija FMP Skopje).
Kabongo's team made it to the Saudi Arabian League Semifinals in 2019.
