D1 Round 25: Derby game ends with Al Arabi's defeat of Qatar Club

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#6) and Qatar Club (#8). Al Arabi (5-5) won against visiting Qatar Club (3-8) 70-59. They outrebounded Qatar Club 41-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nick West (210-94, college: AAMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. International guard Khaled Abdelbaset (192-97) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Al Arabi's coach Hatem Mamlouk used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CSUN) answered with 26 points and 5 steals for Qatar Club. Al Arabi maintains sixth place with 5-5 record. Qatar Club at the other side dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Al Khor. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Al Khor supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Al Ahli (7-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Al Khor (3-8). Al Ahli smashed Al Khor 91-55. American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-88, college: Charleston, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners and Ndoye Seydou chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Al Ahli's coach Panagiotis Foteinakis felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Ali Tawfiq responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Al Ahli moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Sadd. Al Khor lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Qatar Club. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.



Al Khor - Al Ahli 55-91

The game in Al Khor supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Al Ahli (7-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Al Khor (3-8). Al Ahli smashed Al Khor 91-55. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 30. They outrebounded Al Khor 43-29 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Al Khor's players. American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-88, college: Charleston, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners and international forward Ndoye Seydou (205-99) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds.
